Failed recharges due to Recharge Rule Count Exceeded. Why?

Modified on Tue, 4 Jun, 2019 at 2:25 PM

If your SIM is linked to a Usage based recharge rule, SIMcontrol will only allow a certain number of recharges per month as allowed by that rule.

If we try and recharge a SIM and it cannot recharge due to your recharge rule not allowing it, it will show as "Failed" in the Recharge Report. The Failure Reason will show as "Recharge Rule Count Exceeded".

Your daily Summary E-mail will highlight these:

There are a few ways to handle these:

1) Change the rule:  If you would like the SIMs to rather automatically recharge again, you can increase the number of recharges per month that the rule allows. I.e. change the rule from "Maximum 3 times per month" to "Maximum 4 times per month".

The more recharges your rule allows per month, the fewer Recharge Rule Count Exceeded failures you will get.

2) Recharge manually as they occur: If you would like to recharge these manually (once-off) as they occur, click on the link in the Daily Activity Summary e-mail, or go to the Recharges menu. Filter by "Recharge Rule count Exceeded" and pick the date under Recharged At.

Now click on the number (MSISDN) and click on Recharge. Process the recharge of your choice.

*If you have quite a few numbers to recharge, best is to Export Data to .csv or Excel, and then past each MSISDN into your SIM screen to recharge.

Once you are done, you can view the status of all manual recharges under the Reports page to ensure they went through successfuly.

Recharges that did not happen due to the rule not allowing it will show up like this:
