SIM Activation
SIMs are sold as registered, but inactive unless specifically requested for batch to be activated. To activate your SIM, please dial *131# from a mobile phone and ensure that you get the balance of Ksh0.01 returned. If this balance is not returned, repeat balance check.
SIM supply
Flickswitch can supply and register (KYC) SIMs in bulk. Minimum order quantity is 50 SIM cards. Lead times are typically 3 day + shipping.
KYC / SIM Registration
Kenya requires SIMs to be registered before they can be activated. Single SIMs can be purchased and registered at any Airtel outlet.
Flickswitch can bulk register SIMs supplied by us.
Documents needed:
- A copy of certificate of incorporation
- A copy of ID of one of the company directors
SIM Expiry (number recycling)
Airtel Kenya does not recognise a recharge as SIM activity. Because of this SIMcontrol has no built-in keep-alive functionality. The device needs to have actual usage from the SIM at least every 3 months. If no activity the SIM number may be recycled by the network.
TIP: Data expiry is seen as usage by Airtel Kenya, so you can set up SIMcontrol rule to recharge 50MB bundle for Ksh50, valid for 90 days. This will then expire every 90 days, and network will see this as usage and keep your inactive SIMs alive on the network.
