Vodacom: SIM activity and expiry rules

Prepaid SIMs need to have activity from the SIM during a specified timeframe, else the SIM will be deleted by the network.

Summary of Vodacom SIM activity rules:

  • Outgoing chargeable calls are regarded as qualifying activity
  • Active data sessions are deemed as qualifying activity
  • Outgoing chargeable SMS’s are as qualifying activity.

Vodacom will delete (recycle) SIMs from the network after 100 days of no usage.

Once a SIM has been deleted and the number has been recycled the SIM can no longer be used.
